about
I was challenged to write a song with "depressing lyrics, but a really happy melody." I immediately thought "whoa-oh, I think I just lost my job," and after that, the song just about wrote itself. Five minutes later I had the first draft of Bitter Ride. It reminds me of a cliched country song, and we love it that way. Grab a shot and drink away the pain with us at our next show!
lyrics
Caught late to work again, you know I really didn’t want to go
When I finally got there, you know, my boss didn’t even show.
I called him later on, to give him a piece of my mind
He said “We don’t need you” and I said “Well, that’s just fine”
Then I said “Whoa, I think I just lost my job.”
And I said “No, now I’m doing favors for the mob”
It is such a bitter ride, and in the end we all die
Then I said “Whoa, I think I just lost my job… yeah”
I called my girlfriend to make sure we’re still on for lunch
She said “You’re a worthless mess,” so I asked her in a hunch
“I guess you heard the news, then, that I got myself fired”
She said “no” and told me that we’re through, she’s just so tired of me.
Whoa, I think I just lost my girl
And I said “No, man, she was my whole world”
It is such a bitter ride, and in the end we all die
Then I said “Whoa, I think I just lost my girl… yeah”
Making paper planes just to pass the time in bed
When my landlord knocked. Well, he came in and he said
“I don’t know where you’ve been, and I don’t care where you went
But if you think you’re living here, well, you gotta pay the rent.”
Then I said “Whoa, I think I just lost my house”
Then I said “No, gotta crash on my parent’s couch”
It is such a bitter ride, and in the end we all die
Then I said “Whoa, I think I just lost my house”
Sayin’ “Whoa, I think I just lost my mind”
Then I said “No, this world’s cruel and so unkind”
It is such a bitter ride, I think we’re all gonna die
Then I said “Whoa, I think I just lost my mind”
Sayin’ “Whoa”
